Hello and nice to meet you!
I’m Emma and I am the cook, photographer and author behind this food blog. Welcome to my little corner of the internet – I’m really excited that you’ve found us!
I started sharing Asian recipes on my blog to express my passion for cooking and connect with people around the world through food. My philosophy on food is: delicious, easy-to-prepare and budget-friendly!
Here are the top 5 most popular recipes on Spice the Plate:
- Korean-style Pan-fried Pork Belly
- Braised Pork Belly
- Soy Brown Sugar Glazed Pan Fried Tofu
- Spicy Ground Beef Green Beans
- Ginger Minced Pork Rice Bowl
In each post, I take a photograph of each step and post them in order with instructions to help you follow along. It’s important to me that each recipe is easy to follow!
A bit about me…
I was born and raised in Hunan Province, China and currently live in the Big Apple (New York City) with my husband Bryan.
Some of my favorite things in life are: hot chocolate, juicy lamb burgers, karaoke, and sunset walks in the park.
I enjoy cooking, puppies, watching movies and I am 100% foodie!
As a child, I grew up in a small apartment in Hunan, China watching my mother cook delicious food for the family. The kitchen was my favorite place to be, I’d spend all day hanging out and watching my mom conjure up amazingly flavorful and authentic dishes. My passion for cooking began during those days as a young girl and has only gotten stronger over the years.
These days, I love cooking for my family. The sound of the soup simmering slowly on the stove is the best “music” in the world. It’s such a rewarding and comforting feeling to create delicious meals from scratch and I hope to share with you not only my recipes, but also my passion for great home-cooked food.
Where to eat in NYC?
While I love to cook at home, sometimes I do need a break. As a foodie couple, one of our favorite things to do is trying out new restaurants in the city. I have a separate instagram account – “i8disfood” – that’s dedicated to all delicious restaurant food we’ve had.
Here’s a short list of our favorite spots to eat:
- Supper (Italian comfort food, chicken parmigiana is to die for!)
- Bond Street (Upscale Japanese food, sushi is fresh and delicious!)
- Root & Bone (Southern food, fired chicken is a must-order!)
Note: We were not compensated for listing the above restaurants, these spots are what we adore and we love to share with you!
Sharing is caring!
The best way to share your opinion with the world is by leaving a comment! If you find a recipe that you like, please leave a comment, an awesome rating or better yet both!
Your support motivates me to keep making this blog the best that it can be!
