Spicy Rice Cake (Tteokbokki)

Serves: 1-2
  1. Put dried anchovies and kelps in water, boil for 15 minutes over medium heat to release flavor, fish out anchovies and kelp, leaving only stock in the pan.
  2. Add in rice cakes, onion, fish cakes, green onion, hot pepper paste, soybean paste and sugar, stir to mix well.
  3. Simmer for 10-15 minutes over medium heat until the rice cakes has turned soft and the sauce has thickened, stir occasionally during simmering to avoid sticking (add more water and simmer a little longer if rice cakes haven't been cooked through when the sauce is thick).
  4. Serve while hot and enjoy!
